Fin-tastic Secret Pen Pal Card

I believe I may have done a similar card previously....what can I tell you, I'm running outta ideas!!!  The inside says, "to one 'fin-tastic' kid!!!"

December 2015 Secret Pen Pal Card

Instead of a Christmas card for the hospitalized children, I try to make winter themed cards.  The inside says, "Let it snow!!!  We want to make SNOWMEN!!!"

I'm Hooked on You

For August Secret Pen Pal cards, I copied this one from one I saw on Pinterest.  The big fish was one I found by googling 'cartoon fish'.  I cut them out and placed them on woggles, then added the little fish and other seaweed from sticker sheets I found at either Walmart or Dollar Tree.  The hook is a reverse 'J' cut on the Cricut out of silver cardstock. I added a piece of tan sewing thread as the fishing line.  The inside says, "You're a great catch!"

National Hug-A-Monster Day 2015

Ok, so I created my own national holiday...
The monster was printed from one I found on Pinterest which I cut out by hand then added a woggle; the dots are holographic from Sticko by eksuccess.

The inside of the card says, "I'll hug one if you will!".

May 2015 Secret Pen Pal Cards for KIds

This was an easy card to make.  After printing out the front and inside message, I drew the stems with a Marvy LePlume II in a darker shade than the card  stock.  The white was daubed onto the card using a 1/4 inch stencil dauber dipped in acrylic paint then lightly applied.  The hardest part was waiting for the paint to dry.

Secret Pen Pal Card for March 2015

When I started making the cards for March, I realized it was taking me far longer than I had allowed time for in order to have them ready by March 1 for delivery to the hospital.  (Those I'll complete and send for April.)  So I set them aside and made up these.  The leprechaun is on a woggle so he will "dance" when handled.  The inside of the cards says, "I could dance a jig when I think of you!!!"

Valentine's Day Cards for Kids 2015

This card was really quick as I used three strips of different patterned washi tape and one strip of duct tape I found at Dollar Tree a week ago.  The foam hearts were part of a package of different sized white, pink, and red ones also at Dollar Tree.  I wrote "U & Me" on the hearts, mounted them on woggles I made and slipped them into envelopes....really, really quick and easy.  Hardest part was taping the woggles to the cards..

November 2014 Secret Pen Pal Card

This month's card is a copy of one I found on Pinterest a couple weeks ago.  The inside says, "And always number ONE with ME!"
After making these cards for the kids in the local hospital once a month and sending kids' cards to Operation Write Home the past few years, I'm about out of ideas and afraid I'm going to have to duplicate the cards.  That's not a happy thought.

The Apple of Someone's Eye

This card was very easy to make:  I have had this dried corn paper for some years, the apple was part of a stack of die cuts I bought at a thrift store for a quarter, the sticker is from a sheet of stickers I found in the classroom/teacher section of Dollar Tree.  I traced the stem and the leaf then cut them out and glued them onto the die cut.  The inside of this card says, "You are the Grade A, #1 apple of someone's eye".

September Secret Pen Pal Cards

The cards for the kids in July are gone; I didn't take a photo of one.  We had just returned from our two-month RV trip to Oregon a week prior and I guess I was out of snyc.

I had made a similar card using yellow and white figured paper, inked the edges, and gave to our granddaughter for her birthday with the appropriate sentiment.

June 2014 Cards for Kids

These cards are all different as I used the four sticker sheets I found at Dollar Tree that had Angry Birds game characters.  The background paper does make the cards hard to see here but are very colorful in real life.

May 2014 Card for Kids

This card is a copy (as close as I could get it) to one I saw on Pinterest some months ago.  I had intended to make this a 'woggle' head card but I just couldn't bring it to fruition.  This one has an inside message:  "Hugs and kisses for an out of this world kid".  The stars are from a sticker pack I bought at Dollar Tree.

Card for Pediatric Patients

This is the card I made this month:  I had run across the grass paper and the sky paper in my stash.  The stamps are from Operation Write Home's fundraiser some months ago.  I put the bunny on a 'woggle' so it would have 'action'.

Christmas Game Cards for Children

When I saw these game cards posted on Pinterest by www.oopseydaisyblog.com , I knew these were cards I could make for the service members serving overseas in remote locations to send to their kids for Christmas.  Also I will make them again in late November for the children's ward in the local hospital.




The game cards are in a set of twelve on the web site, two to a page.  I needed enough for twenty cards, knowing I could only put maybe four or five and still have the card and envelope less than 1/4 inch thick in order to go through the postal system without costing the soldiers more - they normally send their mail for free when serving in remote areas.













The snowman is an image I found on Google Images when I searched for cartoon snowman"  which I printed then cut out.  When I make them for the hospital, I'll mount them on woogles so they have action.  I made a slit in card stock after printing the "game rules" and taped it inside the card to make a 'pocket' for four cards.

Fall Cards for Operation Write Home

These are the cards I'm mailing to Operation Write Home this month, just a small box of fall themed cards of which about twenty are for service members to mail back home to their children. I normally only make Christmas, birthday, and general (thinking of you, just a note, and blank) cards for this organization but wanted to try making fall cards.

The card for May 2013 was created using a free printable from RebeccaB at  uprintables.blogspot.com.  The inside said "I love your smile"

Operation Write Home (continued)

These are the cards no one wanted to try on Saturday.

After working on the one card (the birthday cards with the stacked flowers in yellow & blue) off and on all day to make 24 of them, now I know why. They didn't seem to be so time consuming when I made the samples...learned my lesson! There was a lot of cutting out of flowers, etc., because I don't have a punch for the stamp and for some I should have used the Cricut to cut out the nose and eyes for the dragon card (that would have saved a lot of punching). I had cut all the other pieces for that card; Helen inked all the edges and assembled about half the cards which I finished today.

Cards for Operation Write Home

Last Saturday, Bonnie, Patricia, Esther, Helen, Beth, Margie, Eva, Ida, and I finished making 182 cards to be sent to Operation Write Home. I'd like to be able to do this about every other month; unfortunately, we plan to leave in April for the Oregon coast (nine weeks on the road in our RV)so that puts paid to that plan. We had some cards left over from the last card making session that wouldn't fit into the large Express Mail box provided by the Post Office so I put them in this box and managed to get 285 in to be mailed tomorrow. I believe I have enough cards no one was brave enough to attempt on Saturday to probably fill a small box. Hopefully, I can get them finished and mailed before we leave on this next trip.

March 2013 Secret Pen Pal Cards

I found this little bear by doing a Google image search for "Irish Bear" then right clicked on the one I wanted in order to save it to my computer's photo files. I printed the cards out and added the inside message, "when I think of you". After printing and cutting the bears out, I made woggles for them so they would 'dance' on the card. I inked the edges of the card fronts then mounted them between the words.

Secret Pen Pal Card for December

This is the December Secret Pen Pal card I made for the kids in the local hospital. Thankfully I only have to make about 24 cards each month as some of my supplies didn't arrive until yesterday! The white snowflakes took almost 24 hours to dry because I used the only white I have, Stampin' Up Craft Whisper White which is really thick/dense. The inside of the cards say, " 'cause snowbuddy loves you like I do!"
